of Turtle Cove

 

Turtle Cove is located in Jasper County, 15 minutes from Monticello, Georgia and 15 minutes from Jackson Georgia, on beautiful Jackson Lake. Close enough to Atlanta (50 miles) but far enough to be peaceful, quiet, and relaxing.

The N.E. Isaacson Company developed Turtle Cove in 1971 with various phases over three years.  In 1974 the developer turned over the properties to a property owner association to run the day-to-day operations of the community.

The development is quite large, containing approximately 1700 lots, of which the Association currently owns 50+ lots. Common ground, which the Association owns, is spread out through the entire community. These are areas of space which cannot be built on and help to maintain the look of the area—quiet, secluded and surrounded by trees. Homes have been constructed on about 965 lots, the majority of the development in the past ten years.

The type of housing is quite diverse, ranging from smaller retirement and weekend homes, standard housing and larger homes located on the lakefront properties.  Originally, the community was mainly for retirees and weekenders. Today, the majority of the homes are for full-time residents.  Currently, Jasper County code states that only “stick-built” homes with a minimum of 1800 square feet of heated space can be built in the county.

The composition of persons living in Turtle Cove is quite diverse as well. We still have retirees, first-time homeowners and middle-aged individuals with children. The community is secluded in rural Jasper County and surrounded by trees.

Several amenities are available to residents including: 9 hole executive golf course, swimming pool, tennis courts, play area for the children, restaurant and lounge (you can pay as you play or buy a package for the amenities). All of our residents have access to Jackson Lake via our six beaches, five of which have boat ramps. The Association operates it own water system (meets all EPD and DNR requirements) and provides water to all residents of Turtle Cove.

 

The Declaration of Covenants, By-Laws, published rules and regulations, design guidelines for construction govern the community. All construction is subject to approval by the A&E (Architectural & Environmental Committee). A nine member Board of Directors meets on the 2nd Tuesday of each month also governs the community.  Three members are elected each year and serve a term of three years on the Board.
